Central Iowa Memory Walk Kicks Off

'Youth Parading for a Cure' in
downtown Denison
Children of all ages are invited to join in kicking off planning
for the Associations 2007 West Central Iowa Memory Walk.
Youth Parading for a Cure will
be the theme of a parade to be held in Downtown Denison on Thursday,
May 17. The parade will begin at 5:00 pm at the corner of Broadway
and Main, and youth are encouraged to assemble outside the Donna
Reed Theatre before the event. This will be a non-motorized
parade.
Walkers, bicyclists, pulled wagons and pushed strollers are
all encouraged. Creativity and fun will be what this parade
will be all about. Trumpets and kazoos are welcome. Job Corps
Clowns will be entertaining people along the two-block parade
route that ends at Hy-Vee. Youth can walk or ride in the parade
in their street clothes, team uniform, dance costume or trick-or-treat
outfit. Older youth will walk along the parade route with donation
cans, allowing adults to make financial donations. The object
will be to raise awareness of the Alzheimers disease and
related disorders and collect some pocket change
for the work done by the Association in this area.
At 6:00 pm the 2007 West Central Iowa Memory Walk planning
committee will meet at Godfathers Pizza in Denison. Coletta
Weeda, Crawford County and Gene Tiefenthaler, Carroll County,
co-chairs of this years walk, encourage anyone interested
in helping in the walk to attend this organizational meeting.
Committee assignments will be made and information on organizing
a team for the walk will be provided.
