Are you providing care to an elderly
family member?
Senior Day Services can help.
We're an adult day program first established in 1994 for older
adults with cognitive or functional impairments (including Alzheimer's
disease).
Adult day care--what is it?
Many people who have no experience with adult
day care hear the words "day care" and immediately
think of something for children, not for adults.
In fact, adult day programs can be a tremendous
help for older adults who cant stay at home alone safely
while their family members go to work, run errands, or rest
from the stress of fulltime caregiving.
The benefits
of adult day care
If you're
a client, you get a chance
to get out of the house, socialize with your peers, enjoy nutritious
meals and snacks, and take part in stimulating activities. At
the same time, you're in a safe, supervised environment, where
staff can look after your health care needs.
If you're
a caregiver, your primary
benefit is respite: that all-important "time-out"
from caregiving. Whether you have a career to tend to, a family
of your own to raise, or even a nap to catch up on, your time
is yours again--free of worries.
Recharging your batteries is vital for Alzheimer
caregivers--stress and exhaustion can take their toll on you.
And with the right support--such as respite or adult day care,
support and awareness groups, and education about meeting the
challenges of home caregiving--you can help keep your loved
one safe and independent at home longer.
Let us
share the caring with you.
